New favorite weather iOS app

Screenshot of Shine

So, and this is thanks to a link by John Gruber of Daring Fireball, I’ve discovered a new favorite weather app! It’s Shine, and it’s lovely.

It’s still quite new, but bugs are being squashed constantly, and I really love the simplicity of it.

iPhone as gamepad? Brilliant

So, I was perusing i use this, one of my daily stops for finding nifty software, and came across WiFiPad. What a brilliant, awesome idea! Works wonderfully for emulated console games.

WordPress for iPhone

Just tryin out making a post using the iPhone app. Pretty nice for something quick.

Domain shortcuts on the iPhone/iPod Touch

Courtesy of Lifehacker comes this nice little tidbit:

An image of the iPhone's expanded domain shortcut.

iPhone/iPod touch only: The iPhone has sported a .com keyboard shortcut for making quick work of URLs in Mobile Safari since it was released, but reader George points us to an expansion to this keyboard shortcut that can save tons of time for entering email addresses and non-.com URLs. First, in Mobile Safari, just hold down the .com button for a second to see other domain options (namely .net, .edu, and .org). Second, when the keyboard has the @ symbol but no .com key, you can hold the ‘.’ (period) key to get the same domain shortcuts—something that comes in especially handy when you’re manually entering email addresses or filling in login credentials in new apps. I’m not sure if this keyboard shortcut is an iPhone 2.0 feature or something that was added when hold-for-accents was added for international language support, but it’s definitely one to know. Thanks George!

I’m Such an Apple Fanboy

I don’t usually do this, but I just couldn’t resist being a fanboy.

146,000 iPhone Activations in First Two Days:

AT&T posted their 2nd Quarter earnings today and revealed some numbers on early iPhone sales.

Sales of the Apple iPhone have been robust. The June 29 launch allowed for less than two days of sales and activations before the end of the

Apple is an amazing company

So I’m definitely a big fanboy, but seriously, with a company as awesome as Apple, it’s hard not to be! I mean, come on, the iPhone is amazing! Not only that, but moving towards 802.11n wireless networking (5x as fast as the current 802.11g standard, with greater range), the Apple TV, and renaming the company to reflect the current trend towards creating & selling more than just computers. Very cool Apple, cheers!
