So my friend Lynn, who moved back to Seattle from Boston a while back, is a bit of a doodler, and she’s always drawing funny little graphs & stuff on sticky notes. She was sharing a few of them at her blog Roguelynn, but decided to spin it off into a separate venture of it’s own.

She asked for my help with setting it up as a self-hosted WordPress blog this time, so that site is living on the same server as this one. So far, she’s digging the sweet stuff she can do now with plugins and custom themes!

So apparently, if you do a search for “JavaScript”, all kinds of junk turns up instead of useful documentation. In an effort to combat this, some folks got together and came up with this nifty bit.

Gotta love this article, “Free Association While High” from Andrew Sullivan’s blog The Daily Dish.

Apparently, getting stoned increases ones ability to relate seemingly unrelated things together.

A bit of history for you all today

I just want to highlight the fact that it’s been 50 years since the Greensboro sit-ins, which helped spark the Civil Rights Movement, eventually leading to the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act, which outlawed segregation. The Awl has a great story on it: Very Recent History: The Greensboro Sit-Ins. It links further to an article by former NY Times executive editor Howell Raines, which “discuss[es] the role media coverage played in opening America’s eyes to the struggle, and speculates as to how it might differ today.”

Pretty cool stuff.

Star Wars opening crawl web magic

So I spotted this, and am just astounded. It’s the opening crawl from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, done only using HTML & CSS. Caveat, of course: being that it’s bleeding edge CSS stuff, it only works in Safari 4.0.4 or WebKit nightly.
