Busy busy busybusybusybizbizbiz…

Whew.

The last few weeks have been HECTIC. Spring break was two weeks ago; went to NYC with the fam for St. Paddy’s weekend, then flew back to Boston for a Matt Germak Band gig at TT the Bear’s. Ended up sick for a few days, then back to NYC to play CBGB with the Germak Band. That was awesome, if loud as hell. Then I spent that weekend hanging with Amber (yay!) and working at the Apple Store.

Last week was back to classes, plus checking out Rear Window Studios with Matt Germak as we begin inquiring about cutting a full album. Went searching for a condo that Thursday, and found the place for next year. Friday was spent at work, followed by karaōke w/ coworkers after we closed the store. Saturday was an early day shift (9:30–6:30), followed by rehearsal w/ Jenny Martin for her recording sessions next weekend (two 10-hour all-day sessions at Mix One, hoo boy.)

More on the article page,

I’d mentioned to my mom that I’d found a great place that Thursday, and after some discussion, she decided to fly up to see about that. Worked all day Sunday, then met up with her for a late dinner afterwards at the Capital Grille (love it when the ‘rents foot the bill :-D). She’d gone to see a few places, as well as the one I’d picked, and agreed with me, so she’d made an offer on it, and over dinner she discussed a few things about it with me. Yikes. That’s all I can say to any of you folk who may purchase real estate some day. Monday was spent registered for summer & fall semester classes, as well as going to this semester’s. Went over to Mix One with Germak to show him that place, and he came ’round to the fact that that is the place to go to for really great sound. Had a dr.‘s appt. afterwards, and then had dinner with mom again, this time at Davio’s (great italian place over on Arlington & Stuart). The owners had agreed to our final bid, so the condo is under contract to us, and if all goes as planned, will go final July 17th.

Inspection of the new place happened Tuesday morning, and aside from some very minor electrical issues (lack of grounding in the bedroom, reversed polarity in the living room, and the bathroom GDI not working), it’s in FANTASTIC shape. Great news. If you wanna see where it is, here’s a Google Map. Had practice with two of the guitarists from the Django Reinhardt ensemble later on, followed by Chet rehearsal that evening (Chet being the band formed by my friends Will Mitchell, Matt Sorensen, Joe Koubek, Marcus Rezak & myself, playing a mlange of jazz-rock, jazz-funk, jam rock, bluegrass & folk). Chet’s been struggling to rehearse & work on material lately, but I’ve taken the reins & am now organizing things & scheduling & booking, so that will change.

And now we’ve reached today. i’ve got the BIRN in 10 minutes, as well as rehearsal this evening just Germak & myself for next Tuesday’s Sky Bar gig. I’m still going to try & put together a jazz quartet for the summer with Ellie Martin singing vocals, backed by a trio of myself on bass, Beau Sievers on drums, and Josh Gallagher on piano. Now if I could only get us all together some time to shed some tunes.

This coming week involves rehearsal Saturday afternoon, and either seeing an awesome show at the BPC, or more rehearsal that evening; work Sunday all day, rehearsal Monday & a gig Tuesday, and then the two sessions for Jenny Martin at Mix One Friday & Saturday.

So I’m a busy busy bee, which would be why I haven’t posted in here recently. But the busy-ness is good, and makes me feel accomplished. Oh, and one last thing, the Matt Germak Band website, http://www.mattgermak.com/ was redesigned last week by myself, so check it out!
